The Problem.
The client has a periodic workshop/seminar/event that they are tired of "doing by hand". They don't need a full "event management" solution. This is not their core business. But they DO need a simple online system that will be "on-demand" as needed. To make it more complicated, they often need a small survey or they have a list of registration requirements. This is beginning to sound like an expensive custom application or the overkill of a full event management system - both will surely cause the client indigestion.
The Solution - On demand and flexible
The core of the Sonic Registration Engine is driven by a static HTML page and has an optional API using xml-rpc protocols. The API allows it to be integrated into other solutions and applications.
What is meant by "driven by a static HTML page"?
This means that, as a web developer, you don't have to configure much at the back end (mostly email routing and related messages) and by using a fixed naming convention for fields, the engine gathers your information and stores it. You can even change what you want to store at any time: add a field, remove a field - the engine will adjust to those needs "automatically". There are a core number of standard fields that have a specific naming convention. All other "post" fields that the engine encounters are saved in such a way that it can handle any number of fields and data types. Those fields can be any standard data type as well as questions, check boxes, radio buttons, and selections lists.
